Archaeologists excavating a site in central Angola before it is flooded by a hydroelectric dam have uncovered the country's oldest radiocarbon-dated burials, earliest known stone structures and only known ancient urn cremation. Dating to the early 1400s, the discoveries provide new evidence of organised communities and burial traditions before European arrival.
