QS top-20 UNSW, top-100 Bristol among four foreign universities cleared to open India campuses

India has granted Letters of Approval to the University of Bristol, University of York, UNSW and University of Liverpool to establish campuses under NEP 2020, expanding foreign higher education presence. Bristol and York will set up in Mumbai, while UNSW and Liverpool will be in Bengaluru. Bristol plans admissions from August 2026 with 250 students initially. The initiative follows earlier approvals, with six to seven campuses expected to open in 2026-27, boosting global academic collaboration.
