Jairam Ramesh questions CBSE’s ‘U-turn’ on three-language policy, seeks accountability from Education Ministry

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has criticised CBSE’s decision to enforce the three-language policy for Classes 9 and 10 from July 2026, alleging it contradicts a December 2025 Governing Body resolution that favoured retaining the existing language framework until NCERT released graded textbooks. Ramesh questioned the academic basis for the policy shift, accused the Education Ministry of political interference, and said the move has disrupted school planning, prompting criticism from parents, educators and student groups nationwide.
