Agnipath scheme revised: Agniveers to get 2-year service extension, option for regular enrolment after 6 years

The Union Cabinet has approved a two-year service extension for Agniveers completing their initial four-year tenure under the Agnipath scheme. The revised arrangement will allow the remaining 75% to continue serving for six years and seek regular enrolment in the armed forces, subject to objective selection criteria. The extended tenure will also come with higher remuneration.
